Backed by 18 years of experience,
Blackwell Communications LLC offers a wide array of communications,
research, public relations, and marketing services to for-profits,
nonprofits, and grassroots organizations.
Owner
Amy Blackwell has a BS in biology and an MA in history from the
University of Houston. While pursuing her higher education, Blackwell
compiled research for a museum near Beaumont, Texas, and for several UH
professors. She also tutored genetics students at UH and can easily
explain complex concepts in layperson's terms. Her history graduate
studies honed her strong research, writing, and public speaking skills.
After
moving to Colorado in 2002, she worked for several years as marketing
manager for a compounding pharmacy in Longmont -- the initial source of
her marketing and public relations experiences.
One of
Blackwell
Communications LLC's current clients, on board since 2006, is
Monument
Pharmacy -- a compounding pharmacy located just north of Colorado
Springs that serves clients in 22 states. Services that Amy provides to
this client: onsite visits to veterinary practices in Colorado, New
Mexico, and Kansas; exhibit staffing at veterinary conferences in the
Rocky Mountain and Midwest regions; e-mail newsletter & veterinary article
campaigns;
Facebook page & ad creation and administration;
Twitter account creation and administration;
LinkedIn company profile creation and administration;
YouTube channel creation and administration; and state & federal pharmacy regulatory issues research.
Plus, she recently remodeled the
content for the pharmacy's website (site architecture & development contracted by client via

In
October 2009, Blackwell
served as a
U.S. citizen ambassador in the Women in Higher Education
delegation to South Africa -- one topic of her multiple speaking
engagements at colleges and for civic group meetings throughout the
Denver Metro area. Amy speaks often at meetings of the American Association of University Women (
AAUW) of
Colorado on topics
such as women's pay negotiation skills; state & federal
gender-equity-related public policy; and the history of voting rights
for women in the U.S. (FYI: She also voluntarily created and administers
Facebook,
Twitter,
Flickr, and
YouTube presences for
AAUW Colorado.) She has also given gender-equity-related overviews
of Colorado state legislation at two
Colorado Business Women (formerly
Colorado BPW) conferences. Upon her return as a volunteer research
delegate to Cuba in November 2010, Amy shared her findings on "Gender Equity and Women's Roles in Cuban Society" on the
AAUW Colorado blog, on the
Research tab of this Blackwell Communications LLC website, and at
speaking engagements in the Denver Metro area.
